Hong Kong International Airport reopened on Tuesday, but the airport authorities said that flights would be reassigned and flights would be affected. Earlier, China said that the recent radical demonstrations in Hong Kong had constituted a serious violent crime and began to show signs of terrorism.
According to the airport website, "Hong Kong International Airport will redeploy flights today (August 13). Flight lifts and landings will be affected."
The exact reason for the closure of Hong Kong airport on Monday is unclear, as the demonstrators'occupation of the entry hall over the past five days has been peaceful. Most of them had left after midnight, and about 50 demonstrators were still there Tuesday morning.
Reuters reporters saw more than 100 passengers queuing at Cathay Pacific Airlines (0293.HK) ticket counter Tuesday morning.
